The assets held by Eolia Renovables cover electricity generation farms that use renewable sources – wind power, primarily, but also photovoltaic solar – both in Spain and in other countries of the European Union as well as in Mexico, which is well known to have some of the highest ratios of harnessable wind hours in the world.
Adding together the farms in operation, under construction and in the final stage that will progressively come on stream between 2008 and 2011, by the end of this period Eolia Renovables will, according to the Company's estimates, manage at least 50 clean energy production plants -44 wind and 6 photovoltaic solar – with an installed capacity of 1,537 MW.
At the start of Q4 2008, a total of 9 wind farms were under construction, which added to those in operation represent 748 MW (59 of which are from photovoltaic solar power plants). In addition, there are 21 final stage wind projects in various European Union countries and in Mexico, that add 789 MW in total, as well as 280 MW in initial stage in Portugal.
